Porsche fulfills its social responsibility in the Leipzig region in a variety of ways. In addition to its commitment to sport, the environment, education and social issues, the sports car manufacturer also supports the city's cultural life. Porsche has been supporting the annual Leipzig Opera Ball as a presenter since 2013. The commitment also includes the annual provision of an attractive Porsche model as the main prize for the donation raffle. "The Leipzig Opera Ball is not only a cultural highlight, but also serves a particularly good cause. Thanks to the proceeds from the raffle, which go to the ‘Leipzig hilft Kindern’ foundation, many projects in the region can be realized," says Gerd Rupp, Chairman of the Management Board of Porsche Leipzig GmbH. In total, more than 700,000 euros have been raised so far. A large number of projects are supported.
"Culture, art and social commitment come together on an evening like this. It is part of our social responsibility and a matter close to our hearts to support children and young people. The Macan donated this year is a ‘Leipziger für Leipzig’ and underlines our commitment to the region," says Gerd Rupp, Chairman of the Management Board of Porsche Leipzig GmbH.
Opera Ball 2023
"Hej Sverige, Välkommen!" Under the motto "Hej Sverige, Välkommen!" 2,000 guests danced through the 28th edition of the Leipzig Opera Ball - inspired by this year's partner country Sweden. Porsche accompanied the popular civic ball for the tenth time as presenter. Traditionally, the sports car manufacturer donates the main prize of the Opera Ball raffle, the proceeds of which go to the "Leipzig hilft Kindern" foundation. This year, a total of 125,000 euros was collected, which will support, among others, the foster children's service of the city of Leipzig and the children's choir "Die Bunten Tauben". The lucky winner was delighted with a Porsche Taycan in the gaudy colour "star ruby". In addition to the "Leipzig Opera Ball 2023" lettering on the front door sills, the 380 hp main prize is also adorned with a "75" on the rear door sills. This refers to the anniversary "75 years of sports cars" which was celebrated in 2023. "The motto of our brand is 'Driven by Dreams'. And this thought also guides us in our social commitment," says Albrecht Reimold, Member of the Executive Board for Production and Logistics at Porsche AG. "As a partner of society, we want to make dreams come true. That is why we have always provided attractive Porsche models as the main prizes for the Opera Ball's charity raffle. Year after year, we thus help to generate record proceeds for the charitable foundation 'Leipzig hilft Kindern'. A great success that we are happy to continue in the coming year."
